Herbario – Medellín, Columbia

Exhausted after a 4 hour (10 km) graffiti walking tour we stumbled in to Herbario in search of refuge in the form of a hearty meal and a refreshing tipple… that was exactly what we got.

Admittedly the place was a tad fancier than we had expected. But it was a nice surprise. It wasn’t white tablecloth fancy… but chic and ambient.

We arrived at around 7pm and we were pretty much the only ones there. We were welcomed warmly by our waiter who spoke great English and was happy to give us recommendations on the menu. We took his recommendations.

I had Argentine salmon in tangerine sauce with potato mash. Hubby had a flank steak braised in coca and coffee.

To drink we kept it simple. Columbian beer and a crisp house white. Both complemented our food and mood perfectly.

Huge portions and although empty ( could be a great lunch spot or maybe it would liven up later… 7 pm is EARLY in South America but we were starving), it was Cosy and exactly what the doctor ordered at that time.
